Meet the Band!
“Local legend.” “The Godfather.” “The GOAT.” (Okay, that last one might be bragging.) When it comes to the Evansville music scene, you can’t talk about the last 30 years and not mention frenetic frontman TJ Tanoos. From 1990 until 2003, his seminal grunge/alternative band The C.R.O.W.D. packed venerable venues like Harpole’s and Fast Eddy’s by playing staples from the ‘80s and ‘90s; later, his party band Tastes Like Chicken did the same at Time Out, Marina Pointe, and Bud’s with a mix of classic rock, ‘90s alternative, and modern pop/dance/rap hits.
After taking a much-deserved hiatus for the last half of 2021, venue owners started asking him: “When are you going to start another band so we can start booking you again?” So in the late spring of 2022, he began putting together what would become his latest venue-conquering venture, That’s What She Said. By sticking to the Tastes Like Chicken formula while adding a little more country into the mix, he’s back to packing bars and bringing the party.
While he more than holds his own with his singing and rapping, TJ understands the crowds want showmanship, and that’s something he brings in spades. Flashy suits, fan interaction, and high energy - all this has the crowds eating out of his hand from the moment the show starts until the final note. All of that proves those opening sobriquets aren’t just hyperbole.

Lizzy Larue
That’s What She Said’s chanteuse Lizzy Larue has spent the last 12 years singing and playing in local bars and restaurants in Indiana and North Carolina. She’s performed a wide array of genres, from the musical scene to the harder edges of rock.
During a chance meeting at the local Schnuck’s Deli, she performed acapella for TJ. Fast forward a couple of months, and she joined the band onstage as the lead female vocalist for That’s What She Said.
She loves the wide variety of genres the band plays, and is grateful to work with what she considers some of the best musicians she’s ever had the pleasure of meeting. (And we’re all stoked to have her onboard, too!) Whether it’s entertaining audiences at casinos, festivals, company events, or one of our favorite local bars, she loves to have fun and is glad to be a part of such an upbeat, positive atmosphere!
Jeremy Lewis began his musical journey from a very young age by taking piano lessons. These would be the building blocks that would lead to performing and singing in church, as well as a much deeper understanding of music theory and melody. As Jeremy got older, he wanted to learn as much as he could about music, which cultivated a passion to learn the process of playing, performing, writing, and producing.
He pursued music production during his college years, which led him to stints in Nashville, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. He also spent time as an audio engineering instructor, teaching digital audio engineering at Vincennes University.
Since the age of 13, Jeremy has played in numerous bands throughout the Midwest, with drums being his primary instrument. After a brief hiatus following the breakup of his previous band, the ‘90s tribute act Schwing! (which also featured another future That’s What She Said member, Jonathan Gluff, on lead guitar), he met with TJ Tanoos about a concept of putting together a project of nonstop entertainment from the start to the finish of the show. This led to the birth of That's What She Said in March of 2022.
Jeremy brings years of playing experience, solid timing, electronic programming, musical arrangement, and vocal harmonies to the band. He is currently writing with TJ Tanoos to bring the first album of That's What She Said to life.

Mike was born and raised on the not-so-mean streets of Chicago, but moved to the River City (otherwise known as Evansville, Indiana) while he was still in high school. After the relocation, he picked up guitar and joined his first all-original band at the tender age of 17.
After that, he turned his love of metal into a lifelong passion for honing his playing to a razor-sharp edge while handling guitar duties for numerous metal bands throughout the tri-state area. Speed picking? No problem. Pinch harmonics? He pulls those off like other guitarists simply pick a note. Sweep arpeggios? Psh, child’s play. Long story short - if you can imagine it, he can play it.
Throughout the years of melting faces and shredding heads with his six-string skills, he formed friendships with many local musicians, including aforementioned local legend TJ Tanoos. So when The Godfather himself was looking for a guitarist for his newest project, he tapped Mike to fill that hole (that’s what she said!), and the rest is history.
Make no mistake - he’s still dazzling audiences with his sick skills, just in a more listener-friendly, crowd-pleasing, dancefloor-packing kind of way.
Mikey plays LTD, Jackson, Fender, Ibanez, and HardLuck Kings guitars, Boss and Peavey amps, and MXR, EHX, DOD, Morley, Boss, and Keeley pedals.

Jayson grew up around a family of musicians and was exposed to a wide variety of musical genres. His musical journey began in the Church at a very young age. In return, it opened the doors to a unique understanding of instrumentation and fundamental skill.
Having "Pastor Parents", his Mother would janitor our church. He would spend hours and hours going from instrument to instrument trying to pick out each part; beginning with percussion and quickly moving on to brass, piano and strings.
This experience is shown in his solo act with "Looping". Being able to define certain musical parts of the song while recording it Live, creates that individual experience to each song. Being a Loop Artist has allowed him to compose his own original Music, while adding a personal flair to other Popular (cover) Music.
Jayson lays down the tasty low grooves for That’s What She Said as well as provides lead and backing vocals.
